Hi, I’m Kristen. I’m neurodivergent, and I created Gentle Shift because I know what it’s like to feel weighed down by the daily challenges of life and to long for a gentler way forward.
I was diagnosed with ADHD in my thirties, and at the time I was wrestling with focus, organization, and the pressure to fit into systems that just didn’t work for me. With my diagnosis, I began discovering that progress doesn’t have to be rigid or overwhelming. It can be composed of gentle, tailored processes that are both compassionate and flexible.
Before founding Gentle Shift, I worked as a direct support professional for many years. I’ve spent countless hours working with neurodivergent and developmentally disabled clients in their homes and in their communities. In that work, I partnered with individuals and families to build skills, nurture independence, and create strategies that support real life. I’ve been welcomed into many different living environments, and I’ve learned that nothing shocks or surprises me. What matters most is meeting people where they are, honoring their strengths and desires, and finding solutions that feel safe and sustainable.
But I realized I was showing up for other people in ways that I, too, needed.
That’s the heart of Gentle Shift. I’ve often said, “I need me, for me”—and I have begun making these meaningful changes in my own life. I would love to help you do the same for you.
Gentle Shift is a natural extension of the work I have been dedicated to my whole life. It’s about bringing the same compassion, patience, and creativity into helping others reduce overwhelm, organize their spaces, and create rhythms that truly support the lives they want to live.
